Doc Buchanan Leadership Academy

Advancing Leadership for the Future

Doc Buchanan Leadership AcademyThis year, Clovis Unified has taken meaningful steps forward in developing the Doc Buchanan Leadership Academy, an initiative designed to grow leaders rooted in the timeless values established by founding Superintendent Floyd "Doc" Buchanan, Ed.D.

Included in recent milestones: Aaron Cook, tenured district leader and recent elementary principal, was hired as the first Director of Program Evaluation for the Academy; and the Leadership Academy endowment was established to create a protected funding source for the initiative.

"I am proud to support Clovis Unified and to help cultivate leaders who embody Doc Buchanan's philosophies," said Cook. "My focus is to promote the high standards our district was founded on and to keep student-centered decision-making at the heart of everything we do."

The Academy builds on 11 Leadership Philosophies, equipping current and future leaders with decision-making principles that honor Clovis Unified's history while preparing for tomorrow's challenges.

"Unless we understand the history and culture that make CUSD unique and special, we risk losing our core values that have guided us for decades."

– Aaron Cook, Director of Program Evaluation
