Infused into the District to Benefit Clovis Unified Students

Each year, the Foundation invites teachers and schools across the district to submit proposals for innovative projects that enhance learning in a creative and motivational way. The program is a competitive process which ensures that the highest quality projects are funded. These opportunities wouldn’t be possible without the support and generosity of donors.

Projects have included the creation of a school garden to make science come alive, technology to give a voice to severely disabled students and athletic gear to enable students in Title I schools to participate in co-curricular activities.

To date, nearly $2 million has been awarded through the classroom and school grant program. These funds have helped teachers increase the effectiveness of student learning.

Applications are accepted for projects costing up to $15,000. Foundation Directors are assisted by District curriculum experts to determine which projects will have the greatest potential to improve educational experiences of students in a positive and unique way.

2025-2026 Classroom and School Grant Awards (Awarded June 2026)

The Foundation for Clovis Schools is pleased to announce the funding of 29 classroom grants for Clovis Unified educators. The grants, totaling over $188,000, were awarded in the Social Emotional Wellness and General Classroom/School Projects categories, to schools and programs across the District.

Alta Sierra Intermediate, Clovis Online School, Gateway High, Clovis Community Day School, TIP, Clovis Adult Education	Making Speech Visible - Supports students with speech sound disorders, especially those with persistent /r/ sound errors beyond the expected age of mastery, by providing access to ultrasound visual biofeedback.
Boris Elementary	Building Confident Writers Through Mystery Writing - Provide schoolwide access to Mystery Writing by Discovery Education to improve student writing achievement, engagement, and confidence through highly interactive and standards-aligned writing instruction.
Boris Elementary	Enhancing Schoolwide Achievement Through Generation Genius Science, Math, and ELA - Provides access to Generation Genius Science, Math, and ELA programs through engaging multimedia lessons, interactive activities, and standards-aligned instruction, to help students strengthen academic achievement, increase engagement, and develop deeper understanding across core subject areas.
Buchanan High	3D Art: Sculpting the Future Through Fabrication and Design - Blends artistic creativity with industrial technology to offer students a unique, hands-on experience in digital and traditional fabrication through 3D design principles, digital modeling, advanced manufacturing techniques, and biomechanical sculpting—culminating in the creation of both functional and aesthetic 3D artworks.
Buchanan High	Machine Shop and Media Equipment Upgrades for The Buchanan Robotics Team - Funds updated equipment in machine shop to provide more students with the tools to develop STEM skills essential to their future careers.
Buchanan High	Outdoor Commons - Convert an outdoor space into a 'living laboratory' where students can collect and analyze real-world scientific data in a versatile environment that fosters peer-to-peer discourse and the development of evidence-based solutions.
Bud Rank Elementary	3rd Grade Interactive Learning at Bud Rank - Funds an interactive projector system that transforms whole-group instruction into a hands-on, multi-modal learning environment by converting passive lessons into active, collaborative experiences.
Bud Rank Elementary	Raven Roasters - Provides vocational, communication, and independent living skill development opportunities for students in autism classrooms through a student-operated coffee and snack delivery service that simulates authentic workplace responsibilities, while promoting includsion and peer collaboration with general education peers and engaging in customer services, task completion, and social communication experiences.
Clovis Adult Education	Don't Just Read It, Real It!: The Power of Hands on Science - Provides tools to safely manipulate variables, test theories, and embrace the "messiness" of real science to transform science from an abstract set of rules on a page or screen into an active discovery process.
Clovis High	Strengthening NGSS 3D Biology Instruction - Provides collaborative Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) planning and development for biology teachers to strengthen critical thinking, deepen student engagement, and support CAST readiness.
Clovis South Area Elementary Schools and Sanchez Intermediate	Developing Scientific Skills using Microscopes in the Clovis South Area - Provides students with access to microscopes that will be used to develop scientific skills and further inquiry based learning.
Clovis South Area Elementary Schools	The Range Readers Initiative: Horns Up for Literacy - Create a shared library of standards-aligned novel study sets for grades 2–6 that will strengthen literacy instruction, deepen student discussion and analysis through complete texts, and support collaborative data cycles focused on student achievement and reading growth.
Clovis South High	Connecting Science and Literature: Exploring Chemistry with The Martian - Provides a cross-curricular STEM and literature opportunity for chemistry students by utilizing Andy Weir's The Martian to explore more abstract concepts in the chemistry curriculum through narrative text. Students will evaluate the authentic chemical principles presented in the novel, using them as a launchpad for collaborative inquiry and complex problem-solving.
Clovis West High	Enhancing Student Achievement Through Hands-On Science - Replaces and expands essential laboratory equipment and glassware in order to increase student access to hands-on, inquiry-based learning aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Dry Creek Elementary	Panthers at Play: Cultivating Math, Literacy, and Social-Emotional Growth Through Intentional Play - Helps the traditional TK classroom become an interactive, shifting real-world learning landscape where abstract math, foundational literacy, and social-emotional skills are acquired contextually through child-led dramatic play through architectural play structures authentic manipulative systems.
Granite Ridge Intermediate	Calculated Success: Upgrading 7th-Grade STEM Infrastructure - Equips 7th grade Advanced and General science students with multi-line scientific calculators to eliminate math bottlenecks, allowing them to shift their focus from tedious manual calculations to advanced data analysis and real-world scientific discovery.
Granite Ridge Intermediate	No Red Ink for Granite Ridge - Tools to help students improve grammar, writing, and editing skills through personalized, interactive lessons with immediate feedback that keep students engaged by incorporating topics they enjoy.
Jefferson Elementary	Building Inclusive Minds: Block Play, Sensory Exploration, and Diverse Community Learning in TK - Funds an enhanced Block Center for Transitional Kindergarten that supports early learning through traditional block play, hands-on STEM skill development, and promotes cultural awareness and further develop social-emotional growth.
Kastner Intermediate	Esports Lab - Introduces Title I students to the booming esports industry, not just as players, but as future broadcasters, journalists, commentators, and media professionals, using competitive gaming as an engaging entry point to develop real-world communication, storytelling, and media career skills.
Miramonte Elementary	From Sounds to Stories: Creating Lifelong Readers - Provides engaging decodable texts and interactive phonics materials aligned with the Science of Reading to strengthen foundational literacy skills through hands-on, evidence-based instruction to build confidence, improve decoding and fluency, and develop a stronger love of reading.
Red Bank Elementary	Orton Gillingham Training for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support - Provides an interactive, hands-on opportunity to equip teachers with the knowledge, strategies, and materials necessary to effectively implement IMSE's foundational literacy skills in the classroom and in interventions across grade levels.
Sierra Vista Elementary	Viking Roots for Learning Garden - Transforms underused campus garden space into a standards-aligned outdoor STEM living classroom that expands experiential learning opportunities for students across all elementary levels in science, wellness, nutrition, and climate literacy.
Valley Oak Elementary	Connecting Families through Decodable Readers - Provides students with supplemental decodable readers to be used as take home resources for students to read with their families that directly match weekly phonics lessons and reinforce reading skills confidently at home.
Woods Elementary	Visual Thinking Journals: Building Creative Thinkers Through Art, Reflection, and Character - Converts elementary art instruction into a year-long creative thinking and reflection experience by providing every student with a personal Visual Thinking Journal to generate ideas, document artistic growth, reflect on Positivity Project character strengths, and share their learning through a schoolwide Young Artist Showcase.

Social Emotional Wellness Category
Boris Elementary	Building Empathy, Resilience, and Belonging Through Literature - Provides classroom novel sets to support social-emotional wellness through literature, collaborative discussions, reflective writing, AVID-style inquiry activities, and SEL-focused lessons designed to strengthen empathy, resilience, inclusion, communication, and perseverance.
Buchanan/Special Education	Buchanan Coffee Cave* - Provides an opportunity for non-diploma track students to acquire job skills and social skills while interacting with staff throughout the campus.
Clovis Community Day School	The Landing Spots - Converts two empty classrooms into a two-room wellness center for confidential counseling for at-promise, marginalized students.
Miramonte Elementary	The Calm Corral* - Provides a dedicated social emotional support room on campus open to all students to help them build emotional regulation and resilience, which enhances student well being and promotes academic success.
District-Wide	Mediator Mentors - Provides 5th and 6th grade students with the opportunity to be trained by high school Peer Counselors to effectively resolve conflict and mentor K–3rd grade students under the supervision of the site Mediator Mentor Advisor.
